Aperol Spritz
It wasn’t long ago that Aperol was a relatively unknown commodity in North America. Presently, it seems ubiquitous and as commonplace as any other spirit. It is slightly sweeter, less bitter and has a lower alcohol content than its close relative, Campari. As a result, it is much easier to mix with and is called for in more and more and cocktails. The simplest of all Aperol cocktails and probably the best, is that which is printed on the label.
The Aperol Spritz is a simple mix of 2 parts Aperol to 3 parts dry, sparkling wine. Add ice, a splash of club soda and a slice of orange as garnish to a chilled white wine glass and you’ve got an incredible, low octane aperitif for a sunny afternoon by the water.
