After visiting Kazuo Uyeda’s incredible Tender Bar in Tokyo this past winter, I’m back mixing drinks with a three-piece instead of a Boston shaker. I realized when I got home, however that I didn’t have a good one, that was the appropriate size for a two cocktail mix. I picked up this stunning copper shaker made in, appropriately, Japan at BYOB in Toronto and am very, very happy. More than anything, it is the weight of the metal that makes Uyeda’s ‘hard shake’ such a pleasing experience.
